Churches of the County

Contact the individual churches after checking records at the libraries and the museums. Church records are not public records the are business records. However some churches do have volunteers that will assist you with their records or will look-up genealogy related information for you. Each congregation has their own policies concerning their materials and each has different forms of record keeping.

  • Prior to July 01, 1911 these records were NOT required by the State of Kansas so these records are not complete. The events were recorded only if the physician thought to stop by the courthouse and record the event.
  • Marriages are listed in this office and in the Magistrate Judges office so check both places.

Please be considerate of the office personnel. When they are busy try another office and come back at a later time. Generally they do allow research on your own but there are exceptions. Research requests at the courthouse are generally forwarded to the Cloud County Genealogical Society as courthouse personnel do not have time for research requests
